Match Point
An app that connects inmigrants, to bond and form relationships by playing sports.
This is a mockup video with stock footage of what an ad for the app would look like. I’m really enjoying playing around with video editor apps!
I undertook an in-depth exploration grounded in my identity as an immigrant in Mexico, with a focus on enhancing both my family's and my own experience upon our arrival in this country. It became evident that our closest companions were fellow immigrants, particularly those from Argentina, prompting me to ponder the reasons behind our natural inclination to form these close-knit groups. This inquiry marked the commencement of an extensive investigation where I substantiated my hypotheses surrounding the concept of a "trauma bond." This notion suggests that, irrespective of the circumstances surrounding our migration, we instinctively seek connections with individuals who have undergone similar challenges, fostering mutual understanding and empathy.
Upon establishing robust friendships with other immigrants, my family and I began to feel a sense of security in our adopted home, fostering connections with the local Mexican community. Out of this experience emerged Match Point, an innovative app designed to facilitate relationship-building, all centered around the world of sports. Furthermore, my research unveiled that the most enduring connections tended to be forged when shared activities, such as soccer, tennis, hockey, or paddle, were involved. Notably, I observed paddle tournaments organized by immigrants in the state of Mexico.
The essence of this application lies in providing a dynamic platform where immigrants can seamlessly engage in what they are already doing—connecting with one another—albeit in a swift and secure manner.

App design
I successfully crafted the application interface using Figma and outlined the essential features to cater specifically to immigrants. Potential additions encompass a marketplace for sourcing sports equipment, chatrooms, an event planner, scorecards, and additional functionalities.

Marketing Campaign
The marketing approach to introduce the app in a new country centers around street posters adorned with colloquial expressions from diverse cultures. Essentially, the aim is for immigrants to identify their own linguistic nuances on the posters, grabbing their attention through a sense of familiarity. This strategy is designed to evoke curiosity and instill a sense of home away from home.
